After receiving a medical degree from the UT College of Medicine in Memphis, Tenn., he completed his internship in general surgery at Rutgers University. He also completed his residency in family medicine at UT College of Medicine Chattanooga, based at Erlanger, where he currently serves as Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine.
