Karla L. Garcia, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician who practices at the Kennedy Outpatient Center of Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Garcia has a specific interest and training in child sexual abuse, abuse evaluations and helping mothers be successful with breastfeeding. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Dr. Garcia is a graduate of the University of Miami. She subsequently received her medical degree from University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL. She then completed her pediatric residency training at University of Miami /Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL, before moving to Chattanooga, TN, to pursue her passion for Academic Pediatrics. While at University of Miami, Dr. Garcia received the University of Miami/JMH Outstanding Resident in Pediatrics, Greater Miami Pediatric Society Milton S. Grossman Endocrine Award, and the Florida Pediatric Society Warren W. Quillian Award for Excellence in Pediatrics. For her dedication to patient care and leadership with child sexual abuse patients, she received the Emiline Haney Award from the Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County.
