About / Overview

Marshall Jemison, MD, is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University. He subsequently completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine - Chattanooga at Erlanger.

Dr. Jemison’s training then included a one-year fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center, one of the world’s leading centers in providing additional training for orthopaedic surgeons specializing in hand and upper extremity care. His training also included a fellowship in hand trauma management in Switzerland with the AO Group.

Dr. Jemison is board-certified through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has also received the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand along with other regional and national medical professional societies. He is an active faculty member in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and of Plastic Surgery at the University Of Tennessee Health Science Center College Of Medicine - Chattanooga.

His special interests include hand and upper extremity trauma and its reconstruction, arthritis, surgery, nerve surgery and problems, and injuries of the wrist and elbow.
