The Erlanger Hand Center (formerly Hayes Hand Center) was founded in 1981 by Dr. Cauley Hayes, who recognized that there was an increasing number of patients with hand-related conditions being seen in their plastic and reconstructive surgery offices and felt that these patients would be best managed in a center dedicated solely to the treatment of diseases and injuries of the hand.
The hand center has included the expertise of hand therapists in the overall program since the late 1970’s. We take great pride in the abilities and professionalism of our licensed Hand Therapists and recognize that many patients benefit greatly from their expertise. Our therapy department is staffed with Occupational Therapists who have specialized in the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper extremities. Not all patients require hand rehabilitation following their treatment or hand surgery, but for those that do, having the treating physician and therapist working together in the same office allows for optimal patient outcomes and a uniquely synergistic approach to hand rehabilitation.
Specialty Services we offer include, but are not limited to: Hand tumors Dupuytren’s disease Microsurgery Peripheral nerve surgery Hand traumas, including fracture care and tendon injuries.
Each of our surgeons holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery.
